It may not be true - I can't find a good source, and I first heard it in a review of the book "Severance," which took the 90 seconds idea and wrote stories about famous beheaded people that each take about 90 seconds to read. But he was quite the figure in science (and tax collection) - someone said at the time something like "it takes only a second to remove his head, but it'll take a century to find another one like it."
In any case, I'd just as soon keep my head on my shoulders, but metaphorically, it's an end I could aspire to.
